“Outerloop kept the energy high performing its loud, invigorating, cathartic songs” – NPR Music
“Outerloop want to kick your teeth in“ – Washington Post
“Fun, noisy, bold — what more could you want?” – District Fray
“Outerloop is a post-punk, rock band led by powerhouse vocalist, Taisha Estrada and guitarist Don Potter, who formed in 2019. Known for their high-energy live shows and angular songwriting, the band has toured regionally, released an EP and an LP and their song “Just Behave” won the 2023 Wammie (Washington D.C. area music award) for ‘best hard rock/punk song’.
Outerloop’s submission to NPR Music’s 2022 Tiny Desk Contest was recognized as ‘an uptempo track that would easily entertain a music festival crowd.’ (DCist) The video earned the band an in-studio interview which aired on WAMU and a spot on the first night of the Tiny Desk On the Road tour, opening for last year’s contest winner Alisa Amador as well as 2021 winner Neffy at Songbyrd Music House.”
DC area post-punk band Outerloop has received a lot of praise in the past for their debut works and for lighting the DC music scene on fire with their unique uptempo approach to punk and hardcore. This latest release is no exception! With a fun yet aggressive and high octane composition, huracán is truly a breath of fresh air for so many of us. With a sound that hearkens back to a simpler time (when I was a teenager/young adult in the early 2000’s and listening to bands like Malajube, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Hot Hot Heat), the heart rate boost offered by this track is a welcome jolt to the system. Special attention and praise should be paid to: vocals and drums.
