The song Day Sixteen: Loser (Ayreon cover) by Riverman is a cover version of the original song by Ayreon, a progressive rock/metal project by Arjen Anthony Lucassen, and was released on August 4, 2023. The original song is part of the 2004 album The Human Equation, which tells the story of a man who falls into a coma after a car accident and relives his past emotions in his subconscious. The song features the vocals of Mike Baker as the Father and Devin Townsend as Rage, two characters who represent the protagonist’s abusive father and his anger, respectively. The song is a heavy metal track with aggressive guitar riffs and screaming vocals.
Riverman’s version features a beautiful classical piano instrumental and vocals by Heidi Wahl and climaxes into a heavy crushing Pantera-reminiscent guitar portion.
