Something about this has a similar quality to (throwback) Marilyn Manson & The Spooky Kids. Perhaps it’s the vocal cadence combined with the songwriting, but it’s a welcome replacement for MM, if so. Released in August 2023 by US metalcore band Original Self, Nu Hollywood starts out slow and grungy with a rough edgy angst and progresses into a melodic and catchy soundscape. This genre bending track is a pleasure, that’s for sure.
