“Otis Mensah is a musician and performing artist exploring the intersection of poetry & experimental music(s). Taking influence from the rhythmic and expressive freedom of Jazz, Otis’ work uses aesthetic language as an instrument to solo through themes of identity, race & the body. Building on earlier work & their tenure as Sheffield’s first Poet Laureate, Otis continues to release music independently with singles “Breath Of Life” premiered on Worldwide FM featuring guest verse from Hemlock Ernst (Samuel T. Herring of Future Islands) and their single “The Thinks” making appearances on Bandcamp Weekly & BBC Radio 6 Music. Throughout their career, Otis has performed at Glastonbury, Standon Calling, We Out Here and Shambala Music Festival as well as sharing stages with the likes of Mahalia, Little Simz & Benjamin Zephaniah.“
Released just last month by UK hip hop artist Otis Mensah, this track is overall a highly impressive songwriting feat. With lyrics that present like poetry and a lo-fi and atmospheric instrumental threaded throughout each beautifully illustrative line, That Mouth Of Rainfall is a somber but immersive listening experience.
