A previously unknown black metal band “Martyrdom” (martyrdom_htx on Instagram) has figured out how to break through the noise. Indeed, after employing a fairly standard shock value black metal stunt i.e. throwing a pig head in the crowd, the band issued an apology after massive copium spread through parts the internet. The band was not even the headliner of the White Swan Live, Houston show.
You will note, the media didn’t pick this story up until *after* the band posted a notes-apology. While the stunt is gross and shocking especially to young normie American metal heads, I don’t think this would be all that interesting or newsworthy as a story in and of itself. Call me edgy!!
As someone who works in media though, I have tons of respect for the move. Now I’m going to be on the lookout for Martyrdom’s next release. Let’s hope they take advantage of this massive publicity.
