Born in Tamworth, New South Wales and raised in Australia, Brisbane trapmetal newcomer MOURNEX is an aggressive sonic fireball ready to tear up the scene. His first track, Cut The Act was released January 4th and is a perfect addition to the trapmetal library and ripe to revive what has been a slowly fizzling genre.
“‘Cut The Act’ is my latest and first release.
I started writing the beat just for fun and then decided I wanted to write some lyrics and track vocals to it.
I’ve got a bunch of tracks that are ready to go, so expect a lot more to come in 2024.”

Taking off hard from the jump, Cut The Act is a face melting callout track with a heavy beat and a razor sharp wit. Boasting a history of vocals and a hefty resume of work with other bands, Cut The Act is just the beginning as MOURNEX’s style has been rapidly evolving with his discovery of bigger trap-metal names:
“Originally I was in a few Deathcore bands, taking majority of my inspiration from other heavy bands and vocalists. I started getting into the more Trap/Trap-Metal vibe when I was shown Ghostemane and I was drawn in by his vocal styles and the quick triplet flows. From there I went down the rabbit hole and found other artists like Ramirez, $uicideboy$, BONES, Xavier Wulf, City Morgue (Zilla, Sos), Witchouse 40k, Warlord Colossus, Gizmo, Synsy and a bunch more. What really got me though is the freedom in the vocal styles within this genre. There isn’t just one set tone or style that you have to follow, you can really get creative with styles and flows.
Massive shout-out to Xeno0christ for helping me bring this project to life.”
We’re excited to hear more of what MOURNEX will bring to this genre and scene.
