“The progressive alternative rock band PORTER from Germany has been around for quite a while and mixes the different preferences of the individual band members for metal and punk, indie and singer songwriter, hardcore and alternative into a completely unique blend that brings the sound, which is stylistically rooted in the energetic, guitar-led alternative rock of the 90s, into the present day thanks to progressive elements and a rich production.
“Genosha”, the long-awaited third album by the band from the Ruhr area, is on the home straight and marks a new start for the band with a much more metal-heavy focus. On 10 November 2023, the first single “Taxfree Hollows” was released on all popular streaming portals (Spotify) and clearly showed where things are heading from now on. At the same time as the single, the band released the video for “Taxfree Hollows” on the band’s YouTube channel @porteralternativerock. The second single “Behind The Banlieue” followed on 22 December 2023.”
A relatively tame track throughout, the true star of Tax Free Hollows, released in November 2023 by German hard rock band Porter, is the accompanying visuals. The song itself uses repetition as the narrative driver, while the music video takes that narrative to new heights, crafting a truly captivating and high quality blend of psychedelia and melancholic commentary on mental health. Listening with headphones will allow you to experience the little audio editing details here and there that only accompany the video.
