Manny Grey – OK

“Manny Grey is a rapper and producer born and raised in Brockton, Massachusetts.

The youngest of eight children of two immigrant african parents, Manny Grey was surrounded by vastly contrasting lifestyles of financial inequality, race relations, familial instability, and violence in his youth. The world he viewed would go on to shape his outlook and musical style in his adult life.

With musical tastes and influences ranging from Wu-Tang Clan to Hans Zimmer to Yoko Kanno, Grey’s eclectic tastes led him to attempt to fill a niche in what he believed was missing from music. Using Hip-Hop as the platform for his life experiences, Grey hopes to speak to people like himself; those trapped between extremes.”

A brooding and aggressive piece of poetry and political commentary, this latest release from Massachusetts hip hop/rap artist Manny Grey tells a very personal story about a cruel capitalist world and the role of the masculine in that world. Boasting a potent cadence and vocal delivery set over rapid percussion lines, OK speaks of a desire for growth and evolution in spite of insurmountable odds. This sets it apart from other tracks of its ilk, in that it tells a brutal tale that is most certainly despairing in nature, but provides a clear ray of hope and self-actualizing spirit.
