“Elektrokohle is an international Noise-Post-punk trio based in Berlin comprises members from Italy, Germany, and Brazil, Suzan Flag (bass), Mr. Cigarette Butt (vocals, synth), and Mona Manie (guitar).
Pulling their inspiration from ’80s Punk, Noise, Krautrock, DarkSurf, and Punk-Blues, the band has dubbed their style as “Cold Punk,” which can be best described as a visceral and gritty fusion of Suicide, Birthday Party, and Warsaw, while possessing a sound palette of its own.”
The latest release from Berlin noise band Electrokohle, this track draws a lot of influence from goth and rock bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Stooges, blending together a melodramatic vocal delivery with grooving, almost new wave, style instrumentals. I Wanna Cry’s accompanying visuals feature a strobe-y black and white arthouse style video that has, as of the publishing of this article, over 3K views on Youtube. Electrokohle has received a lot of praise from fans since I Wanna Cry’s release.
