“A collaboration project between the American artist Angel of Discord and the American artist Worm Womb. Both are DIY artists who are dedicated to “No help from the Devil” production preferring to avoid working with questionable management teams and production teams who may not ethically align with their goals. Both artists are multi-instrumentalists and producers in their 20s emerging out of the northwest of America. Angel of Discord is inspired by artists such as Frank Zappa and Kurt Cobain as well as a host of other influences. Worm Womb is inspired by Courtney Love, Madonna, Grimes and the revolutionary female voices of rock and roll. They each record primarily independently but on occasion they collaborate to release singles.“
Honestly, this was a tough one to write about because pinpointing all of the influences and putting words to all of the different musical elements blended together here was a challenge. A deliciously crispy concoction of percussion and guitar-heavy conscious hip hop and elements of pop rap, this collaboration between DIY artists Worm Womb and Angel of Discord is one of the catchiest and most unique pieces of music we’ve come across lately. With a potent and heavy-handed bass, grinding guitar instrumentals, and a composition that feels like some kind of dark twisted up Roisin Murphy record mixed with an early 90’s Salt n Pepa rap cadence, BEAUTIFUL STRANGER is a wild ride. Our only critique is that it is far too short and ends pretty abruptly, leaving clear vacancy for something equally as innovative and crazy.
