NOL K – XP

NOL is a singer, songwriter and producer based in Brunei. Having spent his formative years and most of his life in the UK, he went to London Music School in the late 90s where his first band Matahari was formed. Matahari supported bands like Bullet for My Valentine and Hundred Reasons and also had their music reviewed by Incubus. As lead singer in many different rock/hardcore bands throughout the years, He has also been the frontman in The Late Yetis, I Mean the Snakes and currently Hurricane Honey. He loves all types of music, especially 90s Alternative Rock. Influences are Stone Temple Pilots, Weezer and Smashing Pumpkins. Current favourite – Alternative Noise (Spotify editorial playlist). Melancholic and hopeful, NOL K is determined to get all his very personal experiences by way of his songs out into the ether. He loves Ramen, his wife and muse, Suzanna and their destructacon of a cat, Bowie. NOL K is the solo project of said dude.

A little fuzzy and a little feverish, this is the newest release from Brunei grunge solo act NOL K. An ethereal blend of nu metal and shoe gaze, XP brings an intense focus to the details and build up of tension throughout the arrangement, taking its time and savoring every gritty moment and dreamy guitar progression. The songwriting is entrancing and the vibes are the ear high you’ve been searching for, so wake up and get into it — and then let it lull you back into a trance.
