Originally recorded by Korn’s Jonathan Davis for the Queen of the Damned motion picture (but ultimately did not appear on the official soundtrack due to record label dispute) in which he also made a cameo as a ticket scalper, this cleverly conceived cover of Not Meant For Me is from industrial artist Ruin The Mind. A faithful homage to an iconic moment in alternative music, this version blends elements of dark wave and gothic metal with all the staples we come to expect from industrial. Haunting but brutal in its delivery and with sound bites from the film itself, Not Meant For Me makes me long for the days when Aaliyah was still alive and the world was a more authentic place.
