Released three years ago now, this piece from German metal outfit Neopera stood out to me for several reasons upon my first listen. With a truly symphonic approach to melodic metal, Verge of War also mixes operatic vocal harmonies with classic gothic metal guttural vocal styles in a way that feels so authentic. Epically cinematic and impeccably produced, the accompanying music video of Neopera’s Verge of War perfectly matches the track’s soaring energy and has garnered a staggering 36K views on Youtube since its release.
