The latest from Australian punk band Clutch Brake Accelerate, this track was released just over a week ago and is the second song in the beginning of a larger musical rollout. With pacing that reminds me very strongly of Janelle Monae’s early track Come Alive (War of the Roses), especially in the first section, Mustang Lewis keeps the energy high and the tempo relatively upbeat. A driving song if I’ve ever heard one, this track traverses across multiple genres, including hardcore punk, ska, funk, and even a few blues elements here and there.
