The Rope – Nightbird

“Formed in Minneapolis in 2009, The Rope weaves post-punk, darkwave, and gothic threads into a uniquely dark and driving sound, drawing influence from bands ranging from The Chameleons to The Sisters of Mercy. Known for their dynamic live performances and DIY ethos, they have built a loyal following both home and abroad. Over the years, The Rope has released several EPs and their debut album, Lillian. Their new album, Nightbird, is set to drop October 4, 2024.”

Released just 5 days ago, this is the lead single from the upcoming EP of Minneapolis post-punk band The Rope. With a vocal delivery that invokes the likes of Billy Idol and The Cure’s Robert Smith, Nightbird has an atmospheric quality with high energy but a moody vibe overall. A blend of post-rock and alt-rock with 80’s glam details, this track feels both modern and timeless and is the perfect lead into a new EP.
