“Die Kammer was founded in December 2011. Since then, the duo has been working together in changing line-ups with a wide variety of musicians. In the first few years, the focus was on purely acoustic realisation. With the conclusion of Season IV, the 10th anniversary of the project and also the caesura caused by the pandemic, this focus changed to electronic support in the form of loops and beats and the associated expansion of the Kammer sound. The Kammer has always been active live in various formations. Their own solo shows and club tours, support tour with Schandmaul, support tour with Letzte Instanz, as well as numerous well-known festivals such as M’era Luna, the Rudolstadt Festival, Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig, Nocturnal Nights, and many more.”
The latest release from German darkwave duo Die Kammer, I’ve Given Up To Cry boasts a beautifully composed instrumental narrative, punctuated by a mournfully romantic but up-tempo vocal and lyrical performance. Featuring gorgeous somber violin moments throughout, the percussion of this track is what really keeps the energy up to support the vocals. The levels displayed in I’ve Given Up To Cry really showcase Die Kammer’s ability to concoct stunning and multi-dimensional blends of classical, acoustic, and experimental elements.
