Earl Hondo – the vibe

“Earl Hondo is an American Hip Hop artist and producer. Born William Earl Henry Allen in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, the young artist started his music education at his local church in Langhorne where he sang in choir as early as 3 years old. Always with an ear for music, Hondo listened to numerous genres of music growing up. His inspirations include Stevie Wonder, Outkast, Dizzy Gillespie, James Brown, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Kendrick Lamar, Michael Jackson, Donny Hathaway, J. Cole, A Tribe Called Quest, and many more. Hondo started his career as a music producer in 2014 after a prominent music producer and a number of his colleagues encouraged him to take music more serious. As a star pupil in his school chorus and high school talent show winner, he gained the audience of LRL Pinnacle Music Group, a publishing company under which Hondo put out his first single “Love Song” under the alias “WIll.” Earl Hondo currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.”

The music video for this track by ATL based hiphop artist Earl Hondo was the first thing that jumped out at us, but the track itself is a piece of absolute fire. The video is student made and features a pretty compelling and captivating narrative involving some kind of Japanese mafia or Yakuza conflict/story but the track is what truly shines here. With devastatingly razor-sharp wit and some of the tightest songwriting in the game right now, “the vibe” by Earl Hondo is grooving and catchy but will give you whiplash if you drop your guard, as it swerves around a corner for a lightning quick verse.
