Released last month by US metalcore outfit Atrium, this track has a captivatingly lengthy instrumental intro/lead-in lasting over a minute and providing an atmospheric element to showcase the band’s technical prowess. Composition-wise, Choked By Smoke is one of the most innovative we’ve heard, but in the simplest ways. Atrium isn’t reinventing the wheel here, but they are perfecting it.
