Released in April 2023 and coming up on a year anniversary, this thunderous track from Belarus doom metal band Beyond the Darkness is due for a revisit, or a set of fresh ears if you haven’t heard it before. Featuring a first-person narrative and poetic style of songwriting, Funeral of Love is a dark and angst-filled piece of story telling that blends some industrial and sludge instrumental elements with classic death metal sensibility. Going hard and fast for most of the composition, this track is not, however, afraid to slow it’s pace here and there (most notably during the outro) which adds a refreshing sense of depth and complexity to the overall vibe.
