“Hardened [was] formed in 2015 in Drummondville, QC, Canada, [emerging] with a mission to create a unique and heavy sound. The band was founded by Guillaume Lambert (guitar and vocals) and David Perrault (bass) and navigated through several lineup changes before establishing their presence in the metal scene. In 2019, Hardened released the two volumes of their EP, “Pillars,” marking a significant milestone in their evolution. The addition of Mykee Bellavance on guitar in 2018 and Kévin Lampron Drolet on drums in 2021 brought stability and a fresh dynamic to the group. This lineup established a sound that is distinctly their own- melding sludge and blackened death metal, focused on rhythmic intensity and visceral dissonance. With a solid foundation and a refined musical direction, [they’re] set to release their debut album, “Pale Eternal Fog,” in 2024. Their music offers a familiar yet innovative take on extreme metal, capturing the raw power and intense delivery that characterize their style. Hardened continues to push the boundaries of metal, delivering a powerful and refreshing sound that resonates with fans both new and old.”
The first single from their debut album, this track from Canadian metal band Hardened is a potent deep dive into the slow and deliberate style of doom metal. Taking the muck and heavy undulating percussion of sludge and combining it with searing guitar riffs and hard death metal vocals, Deivos is genre-blending at its finest. With musical details throughout, such as deep Gregorian-reminiscent chanting and rapid-fire chord progressions, Hardened gives us but a taste of what they have to offer with their debut.
