This is $ubjectz

$ubjectz isĀ  a New York artistĀ  coming from Brentwood, NY. He’s mostly known for his project with Cameron Azi called GCSY which is an acronym for ā€œGod Can’t Save Youā€.

He started making music by the age of twelve; producing for local artists in his neighborhood. At 15, he started making music on his own and joined a collective called ā€œSLVā€ (Superlative) which later became 0500XGCSY. 0500 is distinct from GCSY though they often collaborate. 0500 has a more mainstream appeal while GCSY focuses on making heavy music.

During this time, Subjectz was having bouts with depression which was a big reason for his deepening passion for music. He used music as a coping mechanism for his struggles as an adolescent and young adult. In 2015, GCSY became the official name of his collaborative effort with his friend Cameron Azi. They were the first people to call their hardcore Hip Hop style as ā€œtrap metalā€ though have since distanced themselves from the label. One of their biggest hits in their early days was a collaboration with fellow NYC rapper ZillaKami called ā€œAREYOUREADYKIDS?ā€. The song is an underground classic to this day.

INSPIRATION

Trap music is one of the biggest influences on $ubjectz’s sound and style. The NY Drill sound can be heard throughout his body of work. He draws much of his inspiration from Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Souja Boy and Chief Keef. Souja Boy sparked his passion for producing while Kanye West taught him to always be himself and stay innovative. When he was depressed, it was Kid Cudi who gave him the courage to keep going and to this day $ubjectz hopes to the same for the people who listen to his music.Ā

$ubjectz has been surrounded by heavy music since he was young; his siblings were particularly fond of Nu Metal and Hard Rock. HisĀ  favorite bands include System Of A Down, Korn and Marylin Manson. His singing style draws heabily from Korn frontman Jonathon Davis and from System of a Down’s Serj Tankian. Heavy Hip Hop including DMX are instrumental to his aggressive rapping style. All around, $ubjectz is an eclectic musician with eclectic taste.Ā

His group name GCSY (God Can’t Save You) isn’t merely a name for their music. The two primary members; Cameron Azi and $ubjectz see this as a political/social point-of-view and movement. Their hardcore audience can be found with ā€œGCSYā€ somewhere on their Instagram and Twitter handles. Dozens of videos have been taken with young fans tagging GCSY on buildings or writing the acronym on their face and arms.

In his own unedited words

ā€œTheĀ  name ā€œGCSYā€ standsĀ  for ā€œGOD CANT SAVE YOUā€, the nameĀ  is meant to make you question us,Ā  make you open your ears and eyes toĀ  what we really stand for and question yourĀ  own ideology. The name has its own movement behindĀ  it. we want everyone to know you have power over yourĀ  own life, your own decisions, and can create your own reality. UpliftĀ  yourself and the people around you. The broken will prevail, the hated willĀ  succeed, the lost will find there way. Use your rage, your sadness, your depression, orĀ  even selfishness to fuel you. GCSY is an unstoppable force. Together we grow united throughĀ  our ā€œfuck you I do what I wantā€ mentalityā€.Ā

$ubjectz is proud to have reached thousands, maybe even millions of people with his music. He oftens finds himself amazedĀ  that his music can inspire and affect individuals in a positive way even though his lyrical content is often angry and depressed.Ā  His supporters have told him they use his music as a way of coping with the struggles of adolescence and young adulthood. Even at 21 years old $ubjectz has achieved more than many can dream.Ā

KreatureLaGoth – “9GOTH9DRIP9”

Once again, New York is ahead of the game. Kreature is a local Bronx legend who continues to innovate across his aesthetic.

His music can be described as stunningly raw while also intricately crafted in a way that inspires shock and awe to those not acquainted. KreatureLaGoth delivers sounds and vibes as if they were summoned by a diabolical entity.

While possessed by the Bronx natives tracks you feel the urge to mosh and rage like never before.

His latest video and track “9GOTH9DRIP9” culminates modern Trapmetal sounds with the classic horror-core spell Kreature cast on us years ago. The video shares a glimpse into the daily ritual of raging that has become the norm for Kreature, Breezy Supreme, Alice Crow, and the rest of the scenes Ragers.

The video takes place in the Bronx Native store. Each transition draws you deeper into the dark waters of the track with vibrant glowing hues and glitchy transitions reminiscing of an old Japanese horror film found at a thrift.

Kreature takes us into the heart of the Moshpit where he reigns supreme and his raw energy leads the crew. His guttural vocals had our team ready to throw hands and tear apart the room. This track is an instant favorite of ours by Kreature and brings a deep sense of the unkown.

Check out the video below and let us know what you think! We also have curated a selection of our other favorite slaps from Kreature under the credits.

JPEGMAFIA IS BACK WITH SUPER TUESDAY EP

Came across the latest JPEGMAFIA EP and I’m loving this. As usual, JPEG pushes the envelope and covers new territory. This project has a lighter feel to it than some of his other notable work.

Highlights: Super Tuesday!, Bald! Remix (ft. Denzel Curry)

Ten Thousand Crows – The Moon

Ten Thousand Crows is seriously one of the most next level death metal bands I’ve heard. Within a few seconds I was a fan and that’s how you know something is great. Check them out!

Neviah – EMBERS IN THE EYE

Absolutely love this song. The intro is a funk, driving beat and it builds into a crescendo of electro-metal magic. Excited to hear more from Neviah.
