“Founded in 2010, Ceremony of Darkness released their debut album “13” winning Best Metal/Hardcore Album of the 2010 Independent Music Awards. “13” additionally featured the song “The Surgeon of New Orleans” which was nominated for Best Metal Song in the Hollywood Music in Media Awards. In 2013, Ceremony of Darkness released “Flesh of the Witch,” a conceptual album whose title track was nominated for Best Metal Song in the HMMA’s and can be heard in the Netflix movie “The Incredible Jessica James”, the NBC TV Show “Blindspot”, and the STARZ series “American Gods”. The third album, “Godheim” was released in 2018, receiving acclaim from both critics and fans. The band’s 4th album, “The Lesser Key” was released on March 31, 2023 and is available to stream or purchase on all major platforms. The bandโs focus continues to be connecting with their fans on a deep level by telling stories through music.”
Here’s some long-form Doom from one of our favorites, Ceremony of Darkness, to start your week off right! We previously wrote about their release The Surgeon of New Orleans, and this March 2023 release is just as riveting. The track could almost be divided into 2 parts: at a length of 5:45, the track begins with a slower but deliberate feeling descent into dark shredding vocals and a heavy drum before a brief break down. Ghol then launches into a fast paced sequence that acts as a jolt to the heart before returning to the steady deliberation where it began.
