There’s a small group of energetic trap metal musicians that are becoming the opinion leaders in the scene. They are generally defined by their very high energy music which usually features extremely distorted bass lines and vocals that will put a whole in the wall if played loud enough. They generally favor using anime caricatures as their online identities and have monikers that either reference anime or use an X or V instead of a vowel. Most of these musicians are under 21 and I don’t think they will be going anywhere but up.
Since the beginning their small community has been fostered by No Bxndz (pronounced “No Bands”); a YouTube channel which has seen steady growth this past year with “VS.” videos of large and small artists alike. One of the most notable artists to come out of this wave is 7XVN (pronounced “Seven”). He has become a leader of the scene and has attracted a growing cult following.
Nothing about this sound is mild. No punches held back. This is to-the-gut metal rap. Turn your fucking subwoofers up; don’t listen to this on your laptop speakers if you want to understand what I’m talking about.
Be on the lookout for 7XVN and crew in the not so distant future. The time for aggressive music is here and these guys are the most aggressive of them all.

Underneath the flashy Trap sound that has dominated the pop charts for the past few years; there is a beast bellowing, waiting for its time.
An undertow of abrasive and subversive music is aching to hit a wider audience.
