Gestalt is usually heard as a psychological term and is the name of a school of psychological theory that gained popularity after World War II. As a term, gestalt refers to the concept of an organized whole that is more than the sum of its parts.
With this in mind, we have a new way of looking at the lyrical content of Canadian artist Amuro Ray’s latest release of the same name. And truly, Gestalt works as a whole with many different aspects that serve as different moving parts of a bigger picture. There’s a push and pull of melodic softness and aggression, creating a powerful contrast of sound throughout. An absolute triumph!
