A much gentler sound than we typically feature, but this track just stood out to me so much that I felt it deserved a spotlight. The latest from Dublin based artist Holylight, Pain is a deeply emotional and impeccably performed/produced ballad that starts off really slow but builds to a beautiful crescendo. Perfectly measured, Holylight takes her time on the journey to the top of the track, transporting us from a beautiful singer/songwriter vibe into a strong, aggressive scream that feels almost like Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls in cadence. The result is a heartbreaking blend of post-hardcore and alt-rock brilliance.
