“A Deer A Horse is a band from Brooklyn, New York, renowned for blending elements of rock, metal, and punk with dark, introspective lyrics, driving rhythms, and powerful vocals. As of 2024, ADAH includes Angela Phillips (vocals and bass), Dylan Teggart (drums), Marissa Mazzotta (guitar), and Ripley Shultz (guitar and backing vocals). Formed in New York City in the 2010s, A Deer A Horse released several EPs before putting out their full-length album Grind in 2022. With the help of legendary producer-engineer Sylvia Massy (TOOL, System Of A Down), Grind captured the grime, grit, and perseverance of a hardscrabble and road-worn DIY band. Before their debut album was released, the band faced another lineup change. Teggart and Phillips were determined to see the release through and continue the band in support of the new album. In 2021, the band expanded to a four-piece with Marissa Mazzotta on lead guitar and, later, in 2023, with Ripley Shultz on rhythm guitar and backing vocals. The band was met with a warm welcome in Europe thanks to Trümmer Booking and went on to sign with Hamburg’s Rookie Records in late 2023. Texas Math, out fall 2024 on Rookie Records, nods to the absurd and abstract nature of A Deer A Horse’s journey as a band, where nothing adds up, everything changes, yet nothing changes at all.”
