“Bristolian post-punk band Knives debut with their first single ‘Newshounds’ on February 10th before their first EP on April 14th. With their pop infused style and Idles-esq noise, they have been creating a reputation in the punk and alternative scene playing shows with Life, Soul Glo and James and the Cold Gun whilst receiving attention from anyone who hears their mastered EP. However, Knives aren’t Idles. They have put a unique spin on what punk is known for, creating their own noise in the scene with their saxophonist Maddy Hill and their harpist G Garland (yes, a harpist). They play alongside Dan Farren and Josh Cook on guitar, Erin Cook on drums and Jay Schottlander on vocals and on-stage nonsensical chatter.”
A delicious and rapid tempo combination of noise rock and punk attitude, this is the latest release from UK post-punk band Knives. With a classic DIY vibe in their visuals as well as their sound, Happiness fuses together witty UK rap style witticism and blaring noise rock delivery with a sense of authenticity that is a hallmark of the true punk spirit. With seamless charisma and chemistry, Knives is obviously a smart match amongst each other as well as with their chosen genre and musical pursuit, traits that make this band a real blast to watch and listen to.
